The Australian Shareholders’ Association has announced the appointment of Steven Mabb as its new board chair and Julieanne Ranford Mills as director.
Both Mr Mabb and Ms Mills have been members of the ASA since 2017 and stepped into their new roles earlier this month.
The new chair appointment follows the departure of current chair Allan Goldin after four years.
The ASA thanked Mr Goldin for his commitment and service and for setting a new direction for the organisation while steering it through multiple lockdowns and changes in leadership.
“It has been an honour to serve ASA as chair for four years and represent our members as the voice of retail shareholders in Australia,” Mr Goldin said.
“Despite the headwinds of the last two years, we have made tremendous progress on our strategic initiatives and well placed to capture the opportunities ahead.”
The ASA said that Mr Mabb had achieved significant success in the private sector and had helped to launch a popular footwear brand in the US before returning to Australia to become a full-time investor.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Mabb said he was excited and honoured to step into the chair role and work with the entire ASA community.
“I thank Allan for his service to ASA and the growth he has overseen throughout his tenure on the board,” he said.
“My vision is to progress the organisation’s strategy and provide even better education and advocacy for all our members as well as bring many more retail investors into the ASA community in the years ahead.”
Meanwhile, the ASA said that Ms Mills was an experienced long-term investor with a belief in good governance and investing for the future and had served as an ASA company monitor since 2019.
“My experience as a member of ASA has given me an enormous respect for the contributions, skills and experience reflected in the membership, especially the volunteers, and the value and integrity of the ASA as an educator and advocate for retail shareholders,” Ms Mills said.
“I believe key challenges for investors now are sustainability and governance and look forward to contributing to these areas and more as a director of ASA.”
