Industry super fund REST has made three senior appointments: a new general manager of customer service, general manager of investments and a national manager of advice.

Beth Parkin, a former executive general manager of customer service at The Travel Corporation Australia, has been appointed to the newly created role of general manager of customer service.

Ms Parkin will be responsible for managing operations services, insurance and technical teams while also working with the super fund’s service providers Australian Administration Services and AIA Australia.

REST has also appointed former VicSuper head of fixed income Ronan Walsh as the general manager of investments.

In Mr Walsh’s role, REST said he will be responsible for overseeing the investment governance functions and managing relationships with the fund’s asset consultant, custodian and external investment managers.

The industry fund has also appointed Deborah Potts – who has held senior roles with ipac Financial Services and BT Financial Group – to the newly created role of national manager of advice.

According to REST, Ms Potts will lead the provision and development of the fund’s advice services.

She will also be responsible for establishing REST’s advice team and implementing the advice strategy.

Commenting on the appointments, REST chief executive Damian Hill said they are an “important part” of driving the super funds future growth.

“REST is focused on improving the retirement outcomes of our members and Beth’s appointment to the newly created role of general manager customer service is an important part of our continued work to develop and deliver great customer service for our members and employers,” said Mr Hill.
