Aware Super furthers global expansion with staff reshuffle

Damien Webb, Aware Super deputy chief investment officer, has been named head of international as the fund furthers its international expansion program. 

According to a statement issued by the fund, Mr Webb will serve as executive lead of the investments function’s continued growth.  

The role will involve building the fund’s presence on a global scale, in Europe and other offshore markets, in addition to growing critical relationships to support the organisation and its ownership of assets.

Mr Webb has spent nine years with the fund, first joining in January 2014 as head of income and real assets, then later being appointed deputy chief investment officer in September 2021. 

“We are delighted to announce Damien has accepted this exciting new growth opportunity within the investments team, as we continue to focus on key initiatives such as international expansion to deliver longer-term strong returns and competitive fees for members,” said Aware Super chief investment officer Damian Graham. 

“Damien’s appointment is a testament to his technical expertise, commitment to our Aware Super values, and demonstrated leadership qualities,” he concluded.

At the close of the financial year ending 30 June 2022, Aware Super reported funds under management of $152 billion, representing the retirement savings of approximately 1.1 million members.
