Stewardship service provider EOS at Federated Hermes has appointed a new lead for its Asia and global emerging markets engagement team.

EOS at Federated Hermes has brought on Ross Teverson to lead the development and delivery of its engagement plan for corporate and public policy.

Based in London, Mr Teverson has more than 20 years’ experience investing in and engaging with companies across Asia and emerging markets, as well as in asset management and stewardship.

The former head of strategy for global emerging market equities at Jupiter Asset Management has also held investment-focused positions at Standard Life Investments.

Bruce Duguid, Head of Stewardship at Federated Hermes Limited: “I am very pleased to welcome Ross to the team, with his deep experience in stewardship and company engagement. Asia and the emerging markets are particularly important for our stewardship clients and someone of Ross’ calibre will be a significant addition to our global platform.”

Mr Teverson said: “Global momentum behind shareholder proposals on climate and human rights remain on the increase, with Asia and emerging markets at the forefront of this expansion. We are also seeing Asian regulators progressively encourage the adoption and disclosure of Paris-aligned transition strategies.

“The team and I look forward to broadening the climate conversation from a focus on environmental risk to amplify the social risk of failing to ensure a just transition, alongside our existing programme of engagement.”

The appointment means Federated Hermes now has over 60 professionals working across its stewardship and responsibility teams.

In May 2022, Colonial First State appointed EOS at Federated Hermes to provide engagement, voting and public policy support for its global equity investments.
