Senior appointments have been made by the big four banks.

ANZ has announced that Antony Strong will join its executive committee in the role of group executive strategy and transformation beginning November this year.

Mr Strong has led ANZ’s group strategy since 2012 and will take on expanded accountability to coordinate and drive its ongoing transformation in his new role.

This will include driving further productivity across the bank, delivering enterprise-wide benefits from cloud migration and enterprise business services, and having responsibility for delivering customer benefits from the portfolio of ANZ’s corporate venture capital arm, 1835i.

Additionally, ANZ has announced that the role of current group executive technology, Gerard Florian, has now been expanded to include group services.

As group executive technology & group services, Mr Florian will be responsible for the design and governance of ANZ’s enterprise-wide business services, which currently includes payments, retail and wholesale credit and ‘know-your-customer’ processes, while maintaining accountability for the bank’s technology operation.

Mr Strong and Mr Florian will both continue to report to ANZ CEO Shayne Elliott.

“Both Gerard and Antony are experienced executives who will continue to play a critical role in ANZ’s transformation while also ensuring we remain intently focused on our strategic priorities,” Mr Elliott said.

“As we enter a new phase of development and growth, it makes sense to elevate the role of strategy and transformation within the bank, and there is an even greater need for a coordinated approach to shared business services available to all divisions within the bank.”
