The Fund Executives Association (FEAL) has appointed the former chief executive of Qantas Super as its independent chair.

Jane Perry has been named by FEAL as independent chair, effective August 2016.

Ms Perry will replace current chair Neil Cochrane who has held the position for six years, the maximum tenure permitted by the association.

“Jane has worked at the most senior levels of superannuation for many years and her understanding of the industry is unparalleled,” Mr Cochrane said.

“She is widely respected for her great skill and knowledge, and I feel certain that she will play a vital role at FEAL supporting leaders in superannuation.”

Ms Perry, who resigned from her role as chief executive of Qantas Super in December 2015, thanked Mr Cochrane for his work.

“Neil has made a significant contribution not just to FEAL, but to the Australian superannuation industry as a whole, at a time when it has been subject to constant political and regulatory reform,” she said.

Ms Perry has served as the chief executive of JP Morgan Treasury and Securities Services for Australia and New Zealand, and has held senior positions at AXA and KPMG Management Consulting.

She is also a current director at BTFG Superannuation Boards.
