Rest has announced changes within its listed assets team that will see the super fund’s current head of Australian equities and senior manager global equities take on new titles.

“As Rest continues enhancing its whole of fund approach, we have recently taken the opportunity to realign roles within our Listed Assets team,” a Rest spokesperson explained.

“Rather than an Australian and global geographic split, responsibilities are now functionally focused on research and portfolio construction responsibilities.”

Chris Drew originally took up the role of head of Australian equities in July last year, while Sonia Bluzmanis was appointed head of global equities a couple months earlier in May.

Following the changes, Mr Drew is now the head of portfolio construction, external equities, while Ms Bluzmanis is now the head of research, external equities based in the super fund’s London office.

“Both of their roles hold responsibilities across the extent of Rest’s externally managed, listed equities portfolio (both Australian and global). We look forward to continuing to drive synergies across our Listed Asset capabilities,” the spokesperson said.

Mr Drew and Ms Bluzmanis will continue to report to head of listed assets, Kiran Singh.

Before joining Rest, Mr Drew served as investment manager, public markets at Australian Catholic Super Fund, while Ms Bluzmanis was senior portfolio manager for global equities at BT Investment Group.

The super fund has made a number of appointments this year. In August, Rest announced that experienced investment management executive, Michael Bargholz, would be joining its board as a director.

Also in August, Rest CEO Vicki Doyle was appointed as a new director to the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) board to represent the industry fund and sector.
