Apostle Funds Management (AFM) said the new fund will “help tackle the world’s largest challenges”.

The independent boutique fund manager’s People and Planet Diversified Fund will aim to direct investments into real growth opportunities and “create a positive impact in line with impact investing principles”.

Statewide Super, which is set to merge with Hostplus, has also made a seed investment into the fund.

Investors in the fund will have access to a diversified portfolio and will take a hard stance against a range of industries including fossil fuels, animal agriculture and gambling.

AFM portfolio manager Fiona Manning said the People and Planet Diversified Fund is the “natural evolution” of sustainable investment in Australia.

“It’s unique in the marketplace and provides an opportunity for investors to invest in line with their values and target traditional financial returns in a diversified portfolio,” Ms Manning said.

AFM managing director Karyn West added: “Our key focus at AFM is to create investment strategies that meet a genuine client need.

“The People and Planet Fund is in line with our strategy to target gaps in the market and to tailor strategies that provide effective solutions to unique client needs.”
