Financial services technology provider IRESS has appointed a former non-executive director of NAB to its board.

IRESS has appointed Geoff Tomlinson as an independent non-executive director and will commence his role on 1 February 2015.

Prior to his appointment Mr Tomlinson was a non-executive director of NAB from March 2000 to December 2014.

Mr Tomlinson was also the chairman of a number of NAB’s subsidiaries, including its wealth management division MLC.

“Mr Tomlinson has more than 40 years’ experience in financial services. His executive career encompassed 29 years with the National Mutual Group, including six years as group managing director and chief executive officer,” a statement from IRESS said.

“Among other significant achievements at National Mutual, he led the first demutualisation and ASX listing of an Australian life insurance company,” the statement said.

IRESS chairman Tony D’Aloisio said Mr Tomlinson will bring “broad and deep” financial services experience in governance to the company.

“[Mr Tomlinson’s] expertise in financial markets and wealth management is highly relevant to IRESS as is his regulatory knowledge,” Mr D’Aloisio said.

“[He] has global experience, having held a number of senior executive and board positions with companies either based in or with significant operations in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Africa and Hong Kong,” he said.
