Robert Bell was the former ANZ country chief executive for Japan and was responsible for the overall financial performance of ANZ’s operations within that region.

Australian Unity said that during Mr Bell’s time in the role, funds under management for ANZ’s Japanese retail and institutional operations doubled to $7.5 billion.

Mr Bell was also ANZ chief executive for the Central Pacific and Fiji.

Prior to his two chief executive roles, Mr Bell was ANZ’s chief of staff, directing all activity in the group’s chief executive and managing director’s office and representing the chief executive both internally and externally.

He will begin his new role on 22 July 2014 and report to Australian Unity Investments chief executive David Bryant.

Mr Bryant said he was pleased to have a candidate of Mr Bell’s calibre take on the Big Sky chief executive role.

“We look forward to reaping the rewards of his strategic expertise and dedicated focus on business growth,” Mr Bryant said.
