AMP has appointed a new managing director to head up its SMSF division.

In the newly created role, Natasha Fenech will report to AMP chief customer officer Paul Sainsbury, who will continue to have portfolio responsibility for the AMP SMSF business unit, AMP stated.

Ms Fenech is currently with Suncorp as executive general manager, personal insurance customer, product and pricing.

“We are delighted to have someone of Natasha’s calibre on board. Her leadership and business experience will be invaluable during a period of growth and development for AMP SMSF,” said Mr Sainsbury.

Ms Fenech has been with Suncorp for seven years with roles across personal and commercial insurance. Prior to her current role, she was executive general manager, commercial insurance.

Prior to Suncorp, Ms Fenech held financial services roles that included head of corporate planning and analysis at Citigroup, senior management consultant at A.T Kearney, and actuarial positions at Zurich Financial Services and Royal & SunAlliance.

This appointment follows AMP SMSF’s acquisition of Supercorp's SMSF administration business. In this arrangement, AMP SMSF will wholly acquire Supercorp’s daily and annual administration business under the YourSMSF brand and take a 19.4 per cent stake in Supercorp’s software tool Supermate.

SuperIQ, which is 49 per cent owned by AMP, also recently signed a white label deal with ANZ and acquired SMSF administration firm Super Concepts.
