Emerging markets attract $5.8b in fund inflows

Investors continue to pour money into emerging market equity funds.

Emerging market equity funds attracted $5.8 billion in funds from investors during the third week of October, according to a report from research firm EPFR Global.

Investors also poured $1.4 billion into emerging market bond funds.

"Investors buying into the emerging markets story continue to favour diversified exposure," the report said.

Among the Asia ex-Japan equity fund sub-groups, it was those with regional mandates that fared best, it said.

"Flows into China equity funds were a quarter of those into Greater China equity funds, while Korea and India equity funds had their worst investor inflow levels in eight and 10 weeks respectively," it said.

Investor flows into Latin American equity funds also continued, particularly into Brazilian funds.

Brazilian equity funds attracted $2.28 billion since the beginning of September.

Frontier Equity Funds pulled in $150 million during the third week in October.
