Julie Berry will step down from her position as association chair this November.

The chair of the FPA, Julie Berry, will step down from her post at the association's national conference this year.

"I'm stepping down at the AGM [annual general meeting] in November," Berry said.

"Matthew Rowe, who is a CFP [certified financial planner] is the chair elect going forward."

Berry, who began her three-year tenure in 2007, has decided not to put herself forward for re-election as a board director.

"It's at the end of my term. I've been the chair for three years now, so I think it's probably appropriate that it's time for a new chair," she said.

"I'm very happy with where I'll be leaving the FPA when I step off, and I'm sure with the board we've got now and with the new people, we'll continue on."

There are 23 FPA members who are in the running for three positions on the association's board.

New board members will be announced at the association's AGM.

Rowe, the managing director of advice firm Hood Sweeney, took over the duties as FPA deputy chair after BT Financial Group general manager advice Mark Spiers stepped down late last year.
