al financial services firm UBS has opened a wealth management office in Brisbane.
UBS Wealth Management's Sydney and Melbourne offices have grown rapidly in the past two years, with adviser numbers rising from 60 to more than 140.
UBS said it was aiming to increase the number of advisers in the Brisbane office by 50 per cent in the first 12 months of operation.
Michael Tritton, a Brisbane native, has returned home as market manager for the new office, after working for UBS in London running the investment bank's Australasian equities desk.
"Queensland's economic and population growth continues to transform the state," Tritton said.
"It now contributes 20 per cent of Australia's GDP and its capital, Brisbane, is forecast to become Australia's second largest city in less than 20 years.
"We are both proud and excited to become a part of the economic future of Queensland."
