Financial services company ING is on the hunt for a national manager.

ING Financial Planning chief Andrew Kennedy has broken ranks after two years to join rival AMP Financial Planning.

Kennedy, ING Financial Planning national manager for salaried distribution, will remain in the post until early September.

He will take the position of AMP Financial Planning New South Wales southern and Australian Capital Territory regional manager.

Kennedy will replace Rob Organ who has taken a job overseas.

"[Kennedy] leaves us with our best wishes. He got a good offer to go to AMP. He was well regarded by us," an ING Australia spokesman said.

A replacement is being sought. In the interim, RetireInvest national practice development manager Peter Ornsby will cover Kennedy's responsibilities.

Prior to ING, Kennedy held practice management and development jobs at MLC. He was formerly a financial adviser.
