Deloitte has strengthened its superannuation consulting arm by merging with actuarial consulting firm Buttler Walker Actuaries.

Deloitte has strengthened its superannuation consulting arm by merging with actuarial consulting firm Buttler Walker Actuaries.

Melbourne-based Buttler Walker is a management and actuarial consultancy with a strong focus on superannuation. It was formerly part of Rice Walker and comprises a team of five actuaries.

Deloitte will continue to invest in the growing trillion dollar industry of superannuation, according to lead actuarial partner Andrew Gale.

"Convergence in the financial services industry is resulting in linkages between superannuation, health care, aged care, retirement savings and pensions and this creates significant challenges for trustees, fund managers, wealth management organisations and corporates," Gale said.

"This convergence of services makes the Deloitte integrated multidisciplinary approach powerful when addressing increasingly complex issues for our clients."

Deloitte partner Wayne Walker said the merger would release Buttler Walker resources to spend more time working directly with clients and in research.

Deloitte is a member of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
