McDonald backs up.

Graham McDonald has been reappointed as chairperson of the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal.

McDonald has been reappointed for a further two years commencing on 15 December 2006.

"I am pleased to have McDonald continue as chairperson of the tribunal during this important time for Australia's superannuation system," Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer Chris Pearce said.

"Mr McDonald will continue to ensure the tribunal fulfils its mediation and settlement role effectively," Pearce said.

McDonald was previously a solicitor, barrister, commissioner of corporate affairs, presidential member of the federal administrative appeals tribunal and Australia's inaugural banking industry ombudsman.

The tribunal is an independent dispute resolution body that deals with various complaints about superannuation funds, annuities and deferred annuities, and retirement savings accounts.

The initial complaint resolution process is through conciliation, but where this is not possible a formal review of the decision or conduct to which the complaint relates takes place.
