Group seeks to engage members

Energy Super are using YouTube and a recently launched Facebook page to engage and educate members about superannuation.

The YouTube videos use simple animation and 'real' voices to explain issues such as income protection and TPD insurance and salary sacrificing. The Facebook page contains tips and insights aimed at everyday working Australians.

Energy Super chief executive Robyn Petrou said the fund was keen to explore how social media channels could be used by the superannuation industry, particularly to reach workers not in desk-bound jobs.

"We understand that many of our members work in the field and often away from desktop computers. That's why we were one of the first super funds in Australia to launch a dedicated mobile website so members could more easily access information about their super," she said.

"We are always striving to raise awareness of the significance of superannuation and social media is just another way to engage with members and notify them with key updates regarding Energy Super and the superannuation industry as a whole."
