Eight Investment Partners (8IP) has boosted its investment team by naming Nial Gooding as research adviser, according to a media release from the Asia Pacific equities manager.
Based in Hong Kong, Mr Gooding is responsible for advising on the China portion of 8IP's portfolios. Mr Gooding will initially provide research advice to the funds. In the long-term, it is hoped Mr Gooding will take on the role of China portfolio manager, assuming 8IP's plans to apply for a licence to the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong is successful.
8IP's CIO Kerry Series said: "We're excited Nial has joined 8IP, bringing with him considerable experience in Asian markets. In particular, his knowledge of China - a country with enormous investment potential - helps round out our investment capability."
Mr Gooding spent most of his 30-year career in Asian investment markets. Most recently, he was head of equity strategy for the Honk Kong based hedge fund Northwest Investment Management.
