Morningstar names Fund Manager of the Year

Perpetual Investments scoops top award

Morningstar Australasia, a subsidiary of Morningstar Inc. has named the winners of its Australian Morningstar Awards 2013 with Perpetual Investments taking the top award - Australian Fund Manager of the Year.

"The winners in the Australian Morningstar Awards have all shown themselves to be first-class stewards of their investors' capital. The quality of their people, process, philosophy, and investment style are a testament to this, and continue to enable them to provide outstanding results for their investors," Morningstar Australasia co-head of fund research Tim Murphy said.
  
Perpetual Investments also scooped the award for the Fund Manager of the Year Multisector 2013.

Morningstar's fund manager of the year in its fixed interest category was awarded to Perennial Investment Partners. In the domestic equities category and domestic equities - small caps category, the awards were snapped up by Hyperion Asset Management.

The awards in the international equities, listed property and emerging manager categories were won by MFS Investment Management, Resolution Capital Global Property Securities and Perpetual SHARE-PLUS long-short respectively.

Winners are determined by a combination of qualitative research by Morningstar's fund analysts; risk-adjusted returns over medium- to long-term periods; and performance in the 2012 calendar year.
