Specialist life insurer TAL has appointed Fred Rowley as the company's chief actuary.
Mr Rowley, who was previously principal at consultancy Professional Financial Solutions, will lead the TAL actuarial function, providing advice on key financial decisions.
TAL's chief financial officer Kent Griffin said that Mr Rowley brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience.
"We look forward to seeing him leverage this expertise to drive our actuarial strategy and support the business in its ambition of bringing life insurance to more Australians," he said.
Prior to joining TAL, Mr Rowley was also head of finance and strategy at OnePath Life Risk and chief actuary at AMP Ltd.
Mr Rowley, who was president of the Actuaries Institute in 2007, is based in the company's Sydney office.
