BT plans to enhance its wrap platform to include an insurance offering and equities capabilities.

BT Financial Group plans to enhance its wrap platform to include more adviser software packages as well as an insurance offering and equities capabilities.

In the first of its enhancements, the fund manager has integrated the Xplan and VisiPlan software packages into its platform.

BT Wrap head of product development Jeroen Buwalda said the new processes that Xplan and VisiPlan bring have previously only been available to Coin users.

However, the integration of the IRESS owned products will enable advisers to send customer data direct from their financial planning software to the BT wrap desktop.

"This means they can re-use stored client information, remove the need to re-enter data, reduce administration and form preparation time, improve accuracy and reduce the risk of trading errors," Buwalda said.

Buwalda said the fund manager had always intended to integrate with different planning software, stating that the BT wrap's open architecture platform enables the group to use multiple packages.

"We already have Coin. We added them first because our own planners use them and we had a relationship with them. Now we've added Visi and Xplan," Buwalda said.

He said the group plans to integrate further packages within the wrap platform, though would not be drawn on exact names or integration timelines.

"We've got a lot more desktop enhancements," Buwalda said. "We want to add an insurance offer and equities capabilities on the wrap platforms in the next couple of months."

Last year, BT introduced an online corporate actions and IPO calendar, online managed funds applications and straight-through-processing for cash transactions.
