Prescott Securities' number one focus is growth, its new chief says.

The new chief executive of Prescott Securities, John Nantes, has highlighted client expansion as the key focus of the company.

Nantes said the South Australia-based company intended to expand and leverage off existing capabilities, grow its client base and attract new clients from within South Australia and interstate.

"We've gone through that global financial crisis challenge and we are now coming through a period where we think there are definitely opportunities to grow our people and our product offering," he told InvestorDaily.

"We see opportunity to really go to that next level of service and advice independently. So that is the number one focus and everything will fall in under that.

"We have a presence in the Northern Territory, which we know can become a lot stronger, and in Melbourne we have a small presence, [which] we [also] know can become significantly stronger, so that's exactly what that'll lead to."

Nantes was appointed as chief executive this month and has more than 16 years' experience in the financial services industry.

He replaced David White, who stepped down as chief executive after six years.
