Zurich recruits from CommInsure, Matrix and Chubb to bolster its life risk division.

Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) has announced further appointments to its life risk team, including former CommInsure product manager Richard Dunkerley.

Dunkerley, who has been appointed marketing manager for the life risk business, will be responsible for developing the team's marketing proposition and the positioning for Zurich's retail and group risk products.

He will also be in charge of leveraging Zurich's market-leading product suite and expanding distribution of the products via independent intermediaries.

Prior to his last role at CommInsure, Dunkerley held similar roles at Axa, IAG, MBF and Westpac.

In the meantime, Zurich has strengthened its business development capability with the appointment of two additional business development managers.

Former Matrix Planning Solutions adviser Ben Bancroft has been hired to the position of business development manager for New South Wales and will be responsible for managing adviser relationships and business development strategies within the region.

Bancroft also held business development manager roles at ING Australia as well as CommInsure before joining Matrix Planning Solutions.

Meanwhile, former Chubb accident and health underwriter Richard Hopwood has been appointed business development manager for Queensland.

His previous positions included roles with Axa in the UK, Suncorp, and WorkCover Queensland.

Zurich general manager of life risk Australia Colin Morgan said the business had grown to such an extent that it needed to expand the team in order to meet the needs of financial advisers and their clients.

"Additionally, Zurich remains committed to its longstanding strategy of doing business with intermediaries, mainly independent financial advisers," Morgan said.
