Colonial First State has added Janus Henderson’s global natural resources strategy to its FirstChoice platform.
According to a statement by Janus Henderson, the Global Natural Resources strategy is a “high conviction equity portfolio” that invests in mining, energy and agriculture companies.
It has the “flexibility to move across the resource supply chain including the production, extraction, exploration, processing, distribution and transportation of natural resources or the provision of services to the industry”.
Janus Henderson head of distribution Matt Gaden said having the Global Natural Resources strategy included on the investment menu of FirstChoice reflected “continued demand for diversified global equities”.
“The global resources sector, which includes the mining, energy and agriculture sectors, has historically exhibited a low correlation to other asset classes,” he said.
“As a result, we believe the strategy provides potential blending benefits when combined with other global equities funds as part of a diversified portfolio.”
The strategy is managed by four investment specialists who have experience in geology, mining engineering and metallurgy, and manage over $1.3 billion assets, the statement said.
