Fixed income investment manager Pimco has appointed a number of new managing directors across its US, Europe and Asia offices.

Libby Cantrill has been appointed to the role of Pimco managing director and head of public policy, where she will analyse policy and oversee responses to public policy issues, according to a statement.

She also occupies the position of Pimco New York co-head, is a member of Pimco's Americas Portfolio Committee, and founded Pimco Women.

Before her time at the investment manager, she was a legislative aide to a Congress member and has 14 years of investment banking experience.

Additionally, former Merrill Lynch managing director Rick Chan and former Prime International Trading consulting strategist Josh Davis have been appointed to the dual roles of managing director alongside portfolio manager.

Mr Chan will focus on interest rate derivatives while Mr Davis will manage multi-strategy alternative portfolios.

Meanwhile, Alessandro Gandolfi has been named managing director and Pimco Europe head of Italy.

Mr Gandolfi has been with Pimco since 2006. Before that, he led institutional asset management at Sanpaolo IMI Group and has 15 years of investment experience under his belt.

Russell Gannaway, Ryan Korinke and Julie Meggers have all been similarly appointed to managing directors, and at the same time will respectively hold the posts of commercial credit portfolio manager (Newport Beach), head of hedge fund and quantitative strategy (Hong Kong), and global head of consultant relations and alternatives marketing (Newport Beach).
