Challenger announces leadership shake-up

 — 1 minute read

Investment management firm Challenger has announced a series of changes to the structure of its leadership team, including the appointment of Richard Howes as chief executive of distribution, product, and marketing.

Mr Howes will move into the new role following the departure of current chief executive for distribution, marketing and research Paul Rogan, who is leaving to “pursue external interests”.

Over the course of his 11-year career with the firm, Mr Rogan made a significant contribution, Challenger chief executive Brian Benari said, and will continue working with the company on a part-time basis, helping the firm develop its distribution relationships.

Mr Howes’ current role will be taken over by current Challenger principal executive officer life Chris Plater, Mr Benari said.

“Chris Plater is a highly capable successor as chief executive life. He is an existing member of Challenger’s leadership team and has held key life business roles over the past 13 years, including head of asset and liability management, chief investment officer and principal executive officer,” he said.
