Rabobank Australia deputy chief executive Peter Knoblanche has been named as the company's new chief executive.

Mr Knoblanche will take over from outgoing executive Thos Gieskes, who is moving to the bank's head office, as the chief executive officer for Rabobank Australia and managing director for the Rabobank Australia and New Zealand Group.

“I see a very bright future for what is already a successful agricultural industry in Australia and New Zealand,” Mr Knoblanche said. “It really is a privilege to be involved .”

Rabobank Australia chairman Bill Gurry said Mr Knoblanche is “ideally placed” for the top position

“Peter is one of the most experienced and highly-regarded agri-banking executives in Australia,” said Mr Gurry.

“During his 20 years with the bank thus far, Peter has had the opportunity to gain in-depth experience across the breadth of the business, working with our country banking farming clients as well as wholesale corporate food and agribusiness clients.”

Mr Knoblanche’s successor as group executive, country banking, Australia, will be announced at a later date.
