Carolyn McCann has been appointed the acting CEO of consumer, starting in the position from 12 May 2025.

The position is only temporary as Westpac looks for someone to permanently fill the role.

McCann is currently group executive, customer and corporate services. She will fill the position of current consumer CEO Jason Yetton as he is departing the major.

Westpac CEO Anthony Miller has faith McCann will thrive in the new position: “Carolyn is an outstanding executive who has overhauled the operations of the bank in her current role.

“Under Carolyn’s leadership, our broker time to decision has more than halved, scam losses have been reduced by 40 per cent and our customer complaints process has been dramatically simplified.

“Carolyn is a customer-focused leader who empowers her people to act. She will bring this focus to the consumer division while we continue the search for a permanent chief executive.”

McCann has been in the Westpac Group executive team since 2018. She has experience across operations, customer solutions, fraud prevention, property, procurement and protective services, corporate affairs, brand and marketing, HR, and finance services.

She joined Westpac in 2013 as general manager, corporate affairs and sustainability. McCann brings over 27 years of financial services experience to the new role.

Prior to joining Westpac, McCann worked for 13 years at Insurance Australia Group in a variety of roles. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Chief Executive Women.

Filling McCann’s role while she tackles the new undertaking is Carolyn Hoy, current general manager, property, procurement, and resilience.

Hoy has been with Westpac for nearly two decades, working across legal, compliance and risk.
