Alexander Ordon has taken up the Sydney-based director of Australia and New Zealand role at the private markets secondaries specialist.

In his new position, Ordon will support the growth of the firm’s private wealth secondaries solutions business by working closely with private wealth managers and family offices to broaden access to Coller’s secondaries capabilities.

The director brings more than 25 years of experience across wealth management and institutional distribution, having worked with private banks, multi-managers, family offices and high-net-worth investors.

He joins from Melbourne-based hedge fund manager L1 Capital, where he spent six years as an investment specialist. Prior to this, Ordon served in numerous senior distribution roles at Aoris Investment Management, JPMorgan, Netwealth and Credit Suisse.

David Hallifax, Coller’s head of Australia and New Zealand private wealth distribution, said the firm was thrilled to welcome Ordon to Coller Capital amid its current expansion.

“His deep understanding of the private wealth market in Australia and New Zealand, coupled with his strong relationships with private wealth investors, will be critical to our efforts to expand our offering,” Hallifax said.

“The recent launch of our private equity and private credit secondaries funds in Australia reflects our commitment to the region and the growing demand for secondaries among private wealth investors.”

Late last year, Coller launched its first Australian-domiciled Private Equity Secondaries Fund. This provides eligible private wealth investors with access to its diversified secondaries strategies.

The investment manager then announced the launch of its Private Credit Secondaries Fund in February this year, which sought to expand Coller’s offering to meet the rising investor demand for alternatives.

Commenting on his own appointment, Ordon said: “I’m excited to join Coller Capital, a recognised global leader in private markets secondaries. Private wealth investors in Australia and New Zealand increasingly seek solutions that require liquidity, diversification and risk mitigation.

“Coller’s strong local presence and global expertise position us well to meet this growing demand. I look forward to working with our clients to help them access the firm’s different secondaries solutions.”

Founded in 1990, Coller Capital offers investment and liquidity solutions to private market investors across the globe. It currently manages $38 billion in private equity, private credit and other private market vehicles.
