Investment management firm, Spheria Asset Management has appointed Daniel Peters as head of research – a newly created role covering domestic companies and responsible for ensuring Spheria’s research across its domestic and global strategies is well facilitated.

In what amounts to a reunion for Mr Peters, this isn’t the first time he’s worked with Spheria’s co-founders, Matthew Booker, Marcus Burns and Adam Lund – who were also his colleagues in his previous role as senior research analyst at Schroders for 13 years.

In his Schroders role, he covered various ASX 200 companies, sectors, as well as ‘small and microcaps’.

Elated at the appointment, Spheria co-founder and portfolio manager, Marcus Burns said Mr Peters’ investment philosophy is closely aligned to that of the Spheria team, who are “confident he will play an integral role in the future growth of Spheria”.

“In the small and microcap space, you can’t overstate the value of thorough and innovative research and we think Daniel can play a major role in the continued optimisation of our successful domestic and global research efforts,” Mr Burns said.

Bringing more than 20 years of investing experience to the Spheria team, Mr Peters is joining a firm that specialises in smaller companies and manages more than $1.7 billion on behalf of institutional investors, superannuation funds, investment platforms, financial advisers, and direct investors in Australia and globally.

Its portfolio includes an Australian Small Cap Fund, Australian Microcap Fund, Australian Opportunities Fund (mid-small bias), Global Microcap Fund, along with the Spheria Emerging Companies LIC (ASX: SEC).
