The bank’s former chief architect has moved into a new role.

ANZ has appointed Tim Hogarth as its new chief technology officer, moving from his former role of chief architect at the bank.

As CTO, Mr Hogarth has been tasked with overseeing ANZ’s longer term technology requirements and ensuring decisions and investments meet current and future needs.

“I’m really pleased to have Tim in this new role, which we created to reflect the importance of technology leadership within my team and across ANZ more broadly,” said ANZ group executive, technology, Gerard Florian.

ANZ said Mr Hogarth would play a key role in ensuring the bank’s range of technology projects align with its business plans.

He will remain responsible for ANZ’s technology architecture while focusing on engineering improvements and helping the bank move towards common technology platforms.

“In recent years, Tim has helped us make great progress in further strengthening our architecture objectives and driving ongoing improvements in our engineering standards,” said Mr Florian.

“This track record and Tim’s reputation for being thoughtful, engaging and enthusiastic about all aspects of technology make him a great fit for this new role.”

ANZ reported earlier this week that its margins had shrunk on the back of ongoing “structural headwinds”.
