Mr Connellan rejoins Barclays from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, where he was head of strategic and acquisition finance, Australia and New Zealand.

In his new role, Barclays said Mr Connellan will focus on expanding further the coverage of financial sponsors, infrastructure funds and corporate clients delivering leveraged finance, acquisition finance and structured financing solutions.

“Duncan Beattie and Duncan Connellan are outstanding additions to our investment banking team,” said Barclays country CEO and head of investment banking, Australia, Richard Satchwell.

“Their deep industry relationships and extensive transactional experience will generate tremendous value for our corporate and institutional clients in Australia and New Zealand.”

Mr Beattie has 30 years of capital markets experience, including 16 years as co-head of debt capital market at JP Morgan, 10 years covering equity capital markets with Nomura and three years with KPMG.

Meanwhile, Mr Connellan has over 20 years of investment and commercial banking experience across Australia, Asia and Europe, including four years at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and six years at Barclays along with previous roles at The Royal Bank of Scotland, National Australia Bank and Bankers Trust.

“After obtaining our foreign authorised deposit-taking institution (ADI) licence last month, I’m really excited to have Mr. Beattie and Mr. Connellan joining the bank, which further strengthens our commitment to our growth initiatives in Australia and more broadly in Asia,” said Mr Satchwell.
