Boutique fund manager appoints head of private wealth

Warakirri Asset Management has announced the appointment of a head of private wealth.

Ben Williams will join the fund manager from UBS Asset Management to take on the newly created role, where he’ll be based in Sydney reporting to head of distribution, Stuart Devlin.

"Ben joins at an exciting time for Warakirri. Our new global emerging markets strategy managed by our investment partner Northcape Capital, has already received a recommended rating from two of the major Australian research houses and secured several key platform and managed account positions,” Mr Devlin said.

Mr Williams has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and funds management and has previously worked in a number of leadership positions at companies including BlackRock and Lazard Asset Management.

Warakirri managing director Jim McKay welcomed Mr Williams to the company saying he will help in building the group’s relationships with family offices and financial advice practices.

“Ben’s strong network, coupled with his significant experience across key facets of the advice market, the platform space and product solutions, will help build on our relationships with our key client groups and for our funds management and agriculture capabilities,” Mr McKay said.

Mr Williams' appointment follows the hiring of of Tim Lang to the newly created position of research relationships manager, while Warakirri is also currently recruiting for another member in its distribution team in Melbourne.
