Morningstar risk director heads to JANA

Australia’s largest investment consulting firm has expanded its operational consulting team with the appointment of an experienced risk management executive.

Eleanor Cheng will join JANA as a consultant, bringing “technical expertise to JANA’s clients through enhanced governance and operational due diligence research and process”. She will be based in Sydney, and report to senior consultant Jo Leaper. 

“We are extremely excited to welcome Eleanor to the Operational Consulting team. Her experience working across many of APAC’s leading financial services companies brings insight and expertise that will benefit both JANA and our clients alike,” Ms Leaper said. 

“Eleanor’s appointment is the latest development for our team as we continue to grow our due diligence and governance capabilities. Eleanor will play a key role in providing our clients with independent and thorough analysis of investment managers and advice on how to implement best-in-class governance frameworks.”

Ms Cheng has had an “extensive career” in risk management in financial services, and was previously director of APAC risk management at Morningstar. She has more than 15 years of experience in operational risk management and has held roles at Royal Bank of Canada, NAB, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. 

“As Australia’s largest investment consultancy, governance and risk management is one of JANA’s utmost priorities. I am delighted to be joining the JANA team and to have the opportunity to work with their extensive client base in implementing robust risk management frameworks which can deliver consistent and reliable return,” Ms Cheng said.
