Challenger stock exchange Chi-X has announced the appointment of an ASX veteran as its new deputy COO.
John Williams will join Chi-X Australia in the newly created role of deputy chief operating officer, with responsibility for execution of the day-to-day operational business strategy. His appointment is effective 1 February 2020.
“We are excited to welcome John to the Chi-X team. His deep knowledge of financial technology systems, infrastructure and strategy makes him a valuable addition to our management team,” said chief executive Vic Jokovic.
Mr Williams brings more than 20 years’ experience in the capital markets industry to the role, and joins from the National Stock Exchange of Australia, where he was head of admissions and a member of the executive team. Prior to that he was a market engagement consultant at Nomura Research Institute and also spent more than 10 years at the ASX in a variety of roles, including as senior manager for market access, manager for clearing and settlement operations, and general manager for listings operations.
