An investment advice consultancy has hired a QIC senior portfolio manager as a senior consultant in its alternatives and derivatives research team.

Joseph Clark will be joining Frontier Advisory from 14 April.

Prior to QIC, Mr Clark worked in the fixed income and global tactical asset allocation teams at Suncorp investment management and lecture in economics at the University of Queensland.

Frontier head of alternatives and derivatives research Michael Sommers said he is enthusiastic about his new colleague boosting the firm’s portfolio construction and risk modelling capabilities.

“We have observed Joe closely over a number of years, given his work in QIC’s options overlay capability and alternative risk premia strategy,” Mr Sommers said.

“We’ve been impressed with both his expertise and his client servicing. He is extremely well credentialled and his experience as a tutor and lecturer has honed his ability to communicate both with our clients, and with other more junior members of our team.”

Mr Clark has previously been involved in insurance linked securities manager and investment research, which Frontier said will be beneficial particularly for a growing number of clients in its “non-super” group.

The company reported the number of non-super clients is now approaching half of the firm’s customer base.
