KPMG has promoted the head of its financial services (FS) management consultant practice to national industry leader for the FS segment.

Daniel Knoll will be responsible for the company’s banking, insurance, wealth management, superannuation, real estate and private equity advisory practices.

Before KPMG, Mr Knoll led Barclays Group’s retail and business banking businesses in Western Europe, and Citigroup’s retail distribution functions across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

He noted the industry is undergoing a substantial amount of change and transformation.

“As a firm we recognise that our clients are constantly looking for more from us, particularly when it comes to innovation, technology and risk management,” Mr Knoll said.

“The FS industry has been a key contributor to KPMG’s own strong performance – supporting our clients post-royal commission to enhance their risk and compliance processes and remediate customers quickly and accurately. Last year we launched a remediation centre at Rhodes in Western Sydney to provide an efficient, high-quality service to help FS institutions in this respect.

“As a former buyer of consulting services, I understand the value of bringing diversity to engagements, with a combination of deep industry experience and technical consulting expertise.  We must build on our existing strengths to help our clients in a challenging economic environment.”
