Insurance company PPS Mutual has appointed a new Western Australia and South Australia state manager as part of efforts to improve its partnerships with advisers within the regions.

Steve Salter joins as the WA and SA state manager after nine years in a business development role at Asteron Life where he was responsible for achieving premium growth targets for life risk across a panel of financial advisers in Western Australia, PPS Mutual said in a statement.

He will report directly to PPS Mutual director of distribution Brian Pillemer and will be responsible for the management of key financial adviser relationships within the regions.

“Steve is a valuable addition to the PPS Mutual team who brings extensive knowledge within the life insurance industry,” Mr Pillemer said.

“This will be of great benefit in continuing to strengthen our partnerships with selected financial advisers in the region.”

Meanwhile, David Lowe joins PPS Mutual as a senior underwriter. He will report to underwriting manager Gabi Varnier, and joins after five years as a senior underwriter at ANZ Wealth.

“David’s extensive background as a senior underwriter is a testament to his strong capability of fostering both adviser and reinsurer relationships which will be pivotal to his role at PPS Mutual,” said head of claims and underwriting Marcello Bertasso.
