AMP Capital has amalgamated a series of strategies to create a new public markets business with over 110 investment professionals.

AMP Capital has formed the Public Markets business to encompass its listed equities, fixed income and multi-asset group capabilities.

The team has been brought together as part of AMP Capital’s strategy to build a stronger and more capable public market.

AMP Capital has appointed the current global chief investment officer for the fixed income business Simon Warner to be its global head.

AMP Capital chief executive Adam Tindall said the public markets would help the company to deliver a better investment experience for clients.

“The creation of a global public markets team aligns our capabilities to provide a holistic market offering, enabling us to deliver on our aspiration of becoming a global pre-eminent investment manager,” he said.

Mr Tindall said Mr Warner was the right person to lead the team given his past experience.

“Simon is the right person to lead our public markets offering. He has done an outstanding job identifying and unlocking value for our clients and has demonstrated the strategic, systemic and enterprise thinking required for his new role as global head of Public Markets,” he said.

The team will be finalised by the end of November with the interim team including Mr Warner and current chief investment officer of equities David Allen.
