Westoz names new executives

Perth-based listed investment company Westoz Funds Management has appointed a new head of distribution and a new chief operating officer.

In a statement, Euroz Limited subsidiary Westoz Funds Management announced it had hired Tim Banfield and Jaime Underdown to the roles of head of distribution and chief operating officer respectively.

Mr Banfield joins from NWQ Capital Management, where he held the role of managing director, distribution. Prior to that, he was a business development manager at Packer & Co.

In his new role, he will have oversight of marketing and business development for Westoz Funds Management, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Mr Underdown will be responsible for overseeing overall operations of the fund manager as well as its investment vehicles in his new role.

He was most recently head of investor relations at Platinum Mortgage Securities where he communicated and managed relationships with various stakeholders.

Mr Underdown also previously worked in London for seven years for a number of major asset managers in operational manager or performance analyst roles.

He has also has experience working in the private sector, and between 2005 and 2008 was a senior policy officer and then a senior budget analyst first at Australia’s Department of Agriculture and then the Department of Finance.

The new hires will see executive director Philip Rees transition into a non-executive position but remain on the company’s investment committee.
