In a statement, Equity Trustees announced that former BNP Paribas Investment Partners president and chief executive of North America Robert Harrison had been appointed as a corporate services specialist.

Based in New York, Mr Harrison is an Australian citizen and US permanent resident and has over three decades’ experience as a senior financial services executive.

From 1985 to 1988, he was the vice president of Saudi International Bank, and then from 1989 to 1996 held the same role at Bankers Trust across Sydney and New York.

He then moved back to Sydney and joined Westpac Investment Management as its head of business development for three years, then from 1999 to 2011 held the chief executive and managing director positions at BNP Paribas Australia.

He moved back to New York in 2011 to take up the top role at BNP Paribas North America, a role he has held until now.

Equity Trustees executive general manager for corporate trustee and fund services Harvey Kalman noted Mr Harrison’s experience.

“Mr Harrison is an exceptional resource to link US-based funds managers with global opportunities, backed by Equity Trustees’ world-leading capability in this highly specialised area of expertise,” Mr Kalman said.

He added that the appointment was part of the firm’s “global strategy to service fund managers no matter where they are in the world”.

“Our move to expand offshore and into the UK, with an office in London means we have the expertise and people on the ground to provide seamless service.

“We can be the partner US fund managers need to diversify their client base in the markets in the UK, Europe or the Asia Pacific, and diversify their income in the process. We are the clear choice for US fund managers with global aspirations.”

Equity Trustees provides responsible entity and corporate director services to investment and wealth managers in Australia, the UK and other European markets.
