New chair for AMP Capital announced

AMP Capital has appointed a new chair following the departure of Vanessa Wallace in the aftermath of the royal commission hearings into financial advice.

John Nesbitt has been appointed as the chair of AMP Capital, replacing Vanessa Wallace who resigned from the AMP board as well as her AMP Capital chairmanship on 8 May 2018.

Ms Wallace was one of the three women on AMP's board until all three announced their resignations in the wake of the royal commission hearings in April.

She was also the only woman on AMP Capital's board prior to her announcement of her resignation on 8 May.

John Nesbitt joins AMP Capital's board as chair after serving as the chair of the boards of AMP Capital's main responsible entity (RE) and trustee.

AMP Capital has also announced the appointment of independent director Debra Hazelton, bring the board's gender ratio to five men and one woman.

Replacing Mr Nesbitt as the chair of the boards of AMP Capital's RE and trustee is Ming Long. She will be joined by Bob McKinnon, who has been appointed as an independent director on the main RE and trustee boards as well as chair of their audit and risk committees.
