Saxo Capital Markets has appointed former JB Markets client adviser Eleanor Creagh to the newly created role of Australia markets strategist.

Saxo Capital Markets has announced in a statement that Ms Creagh will step into the Sydney-based role that sees her assume responsibility for coordinating and implementing equity strategies and research for investors.

She will focus primarily on Australian equities, with a view to expand to Asia Pacific equities over time.

She will also create “quantitative models and customised mathematical frameworks for institutional clients”.

Ms Creagh joins the firm’s global sales trading team after a year and four months at JB Markets in the position of client adviser for derivatives dealing and execution in direct market access.

In her new role, she reports to Saxo Bank Group chief economist and chief investment strategist Steen Jakobsen as well as Saxo Capital Markets Australia’s chief executive Ben Smoker, who said the team was pleased to have Eleanor join the firm.

“She is an expert in her field, who will no doubt add significant value to Saxo’s Global Sales Trading team, helping local traders and investors find signals amid market noise,” Mr Smoker said.

Ms Creagh commenced in her new position in April.
