FIIG Securities hires director of fixed income

A former global multi assets investment specialist at QIC has taken up the role of director of fixed income at FIIG Securities’ Brisbane office.

Stephen Mackie steps into the new role with more than two decades of experience in markets, making the move after nearly three years as a director and investment specialist at Queensland government-owned investment company QIC’s global multi asset team.

Prior to that, Mr Mackie was head of European swaps trading at RBC Capital Markets based in London, and before that was head of AUD swaps trading at Citi.

Mr Mackie was also a director and portfolio manager at Kapstream Capital for just under a year after more than 10 years at the Commonwealth Bank from 1996 to 2006.

Commenting on the appointment, FIIG Securities state manager, Queensland Mark Connors said Mr Mackie’s experience would add great value” to the team.

“As a senior member of the team, Stephen will manage investments for clients, from individuals to corporates,” Mr Connors said.

“FIIG is seeing a growing number of investors and organisations interested in fixed income investments, including corporate bonds and short-term money markets, and is growing our team accordingly.
 
“Having previously held roles at major investment banks in Australia and abroad, Stephen adds further depth and breadth to our team.”

Mr Mackie said he was excited to join the FIIG team in Brisbane.

“FIIG provides investors with direct bond market access, a unique offering that presents a wealth of opportunity for individuals, corporates and institutions alike,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to contributing to FIIG’s work in helping investors access the benefits of corporate bonds in Australia.”

Mr Mackie has already commenced in his new role.
