Antares Equities hires new director

Boutique Australian equities manager Antares Equities has appointed a new director of institutional distribution.

Formerly a director of institutional equities at Phillip Capital, Richard Close joins the company with experience in equity funds management and research and institutional sales.

Prior to his time at Phillip Capital, Mr Close also held director positions at Citibank, Credit Suisse and Schroder Investment Management; was vice president, Asia-Pacific equities at Deutsche Bank; and executive general manager, investments at Australia China Capital Management.

Commenting on the appointment, Antares Equities general manager Brendan Donohoe said he was "extremely pleased" to have Mr Close join the board.

"He brings a wealth of equities investment and institutional distribution experience to the firm, which makes him ideally suited to developing deeper partnerships and delivering superior investment solutions to the institutional market," Mr Donohoe said.

“Antares Equities already has a strong presence in the retail market with our award-winning Australian equities investment strategies and we look forward to building a broader awareness of our institutional capabilities."
