A former AMP national account manager has joined MetLife in the newly created position of head of retail sales.

With more than a decade’s experience in various roles at AMP, Matt Lippiatt will lead the retail sales team and help develop the retail life insurance offer that will launch in 2018.

Commenting on the appointment, MetLife chief distribution officer Chesne Stafford said, “Matt has a great combination of experience working across many areas of life insurance, including group, corporate and retail, and with a strong wealth background.”

During his time as head of national accounts (IFA distribution) at AMP, Mr Lippiatt managed licensee relationships and retail insurance and platform sales through independent financial advisers.

“He is in tune with the needs and wants of advisers and their clients and will be instrumental not only in helping us to deliver our initial retail offer next year, but in working closely with our adviser partners to continuously identify and drive future enhancements,” Ms Stafford said.

“MetLife is a specialist life insurer with a successful track record in Australia through group and corporate schemes, including a strong claims philosophy that will carry through to our new retail offer.

“We have the support of our global MetLife network, coupled with exceptional local expertise, and I’m excited to welcome Matt to our growing retail team.”
