Scott McDine has joined First Super as an employee representative, replacing the outgoing Dave Kirner.
Mr McDine is a former director of AustralianSuper and Cbus, a former executive member of the ACTU and a former national secretary of the Australian Workers Union.
First Super chief executive Bill Watson said Mr McDine had "extensive experience in serving the interests of members on super fund boards".
"Scott McDine has devoted his life to advocating for working people, not only through national union leadership but other representative bodies that represent workers’ interests," Mr Watson said.
"With many years’ prior experience on other industry super fund boards, Scott will be an extremely valuable addition to our board.
"Scott’s appointment will bring perspectives outside of our own industry and help broaden the skill and diversity of our board."
