BTIM appoints head of multi asset

BT Investment Management has appointed Michael Blayney to the newly created role of head of multi asset investments.

Michael Blayney will make the move to BTIM from First State Super where he is currently head of investment strategy.

Before his time at First State Super, Mr Blayney worked at Perpetual for five years where he was the head of diversified strategies.

Commenting on the appointment, BTIM chief executive Michael Bargholz said, "Michael has a strong track record in building objective-based funds across
multiple organisations and we are pleased to have attracted someone of his calibre and expertise."

BTIM portfolio managers Stuart Eliot and Alan Polley will retain responsibility for managing BTIM’s existing $7.3 billion in multi asset portfolios and report to Mr Blayney, a statement by the company said.

Mr Blayney said, "I am delighted to be joining such a highly regarded and successful investment management firm and I look forward to building on the group’s existing strong capabilities in multi asset funds management."
