Yarra Capital Management has appointed former Perpetual group executive Michael Gordon to its board as a non-executive director.

Mr Gordon will also join Yarra Capital Management as the chairman of the firm's multi-asset allocation committee.

Yarra Capital chairman Mark Burgess described Mr Gordon's appointment as a "significant milestone" for the firm after it was spun out of Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Australian operations last year.

"[Michael] brings a depth of global industry experience which is rarely found in the Australian market, and his expertise in risk management and asset allocation provides significant additional skills for the board and firm more generally," Mr Burgess said.

Mr Gordon will retain his position on the investment advisory committee of Altius Asset Management, which was announced in June 2016.

He retired from his Group Executive role at Perpetual Investments in December 2015.
